Allard JR History

The JR was Allard's specialist Le Mans racer, built in tiny numbers — only seven were produced between 1953 and 1956. Powered by a Cadillac V8 tuned to approximately 300 hp, the JR represented the company's last serious attempt to contest top-level endurance racing.

By the mid-1950s the competition landscape had shifted dramatically toward purpose-built European sports-racing cars from Ferrari, Maserati, and Jaguar, and the JR found the going harder. The JR was Allard's final factory racing programme before the company turned its attention entirely to road-car production.
