Westfield XTR2 History

Introduced in 2001, the XTR2 was Westfield's purpose-built circuit car — road-legal in the UK but conceived from the outset for track days and sprint events. Like the Megabusa it used the 1,299 cc Suzuki Hayabusa engine with approximately 170 PS through a six-speed sequential gearbox, but in a more aerodynamically optimised bodyshell.

The XTR2 achieved its greatest public prominence on the BBC television programme Top Gear, where the 'Black Stig' lapped the Dunsfold test track faster than a Pagani Zonda — then the reigning production-car record holder — demonstrating the brutal effectiveness of low mass over high horsepower. Production ran to approximately 2010.
