Westfield Megabusa History

Launched in 2000, the Megabusa mated the 1,299 cc Suzuki Hayabusa inline-four — tuned to approximately 175 bhp — with a six-speed sequential motorcycle gearbox inside the familiar SEi tubular-steel chassis. The combination delivered a power-to-weight ratio that rivalled dedicated track cars while remaining road-legal in the UK.

Like its XTR2 sibling the Megabusa exploited the Hayabusa engine's proven reliability and parts availability, offering a low-maintenance alternative to bespoke racing units. Kingswinford-built, it was available as a kit or factory-built car and was exported to several European markets where local regulations permitted its Clubman-class homologation. An exact production end date is not firmly documented (sources vary; build-year examples exist well into the 2010s), but the model was offered under the original Westfield through to its 2022 administration.
