Wallys Car Izis History

The Izis was the car that put Wallyscar on the map: unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008, it was a compact, two-door off-roader with a distinctive retro-Jeep face designed by Tunisian firm HH Design. The body was made entirely of fiberglass over a steel ladder frame, keeping weight low and allowing the brand to offer buyers roughly 100 color options alongside configurable door and roof choices.

Under the hood sat a 1.4-litre PSA (Peugeot-Citroën) petrol engine producing 74 hp — the same family Peugeot used in its small cars, giving the Izis reliable European powertrains without in-house engine development costs. The car was assembled as a CKD (completely knocked-down) kit, with CKD production beginning 19 October 2008.

Between 2008 and 2013 approximately 2,000 units were produced, with 80 percent exported — predominantly to Belgium, Italy, France, and Latin America. The Izis received a two-star Euro NCAP safety rating. Despite its modest figures, the car proved that Tunisia could design and manufacture a road-legal vehicle, making it a landmark in North African automotive history.
