Triumph TR6 History

Launched in 1968 (1969 model year), the TR6 was a Karmann restyle of the six-cylinder TR5/TR250, giving the car squared-off front and rear ends over the familiar chassis. UK and European cars used Lucas mechanical petrol injection for 150 bhp; US-market cars ran twin carburettors and lower outputs to meet emissions rules.

With about 91,850 built — the vast majority exported to the United States — the TR6 became the best-selling of the traditional TRs and the last of the open-headlamp, separate-chassis Triumph sports cars, a line that began with the TR2. Production ended in July 1976, after which the wedge-shaped TR7 took over.
