Triumph Renown History

The Renown was Triumph's full-size post-war saloon, built from 1949 to 1954, and the production sibling of the Roadster's running gear. Its upright, sharply creased 'razor-edge' bodywork deliberately imitated the formal coachbuilt look of period Bentley and Rolls-Royce cars, lending a small Triumph an air of dignity.

Powered by the 2.1-litre Standard Vanguard four, the Renown carried the marque's flagship role through the early 1950s before Triumph's focus shifted decisively toward sports cars with the TR series.
