History

Tofaş introduced the Fiat Uno to its Bursa production line in 1994, broadening its range with an entry-level subcompact hatchback below the Tipo. The Uno had been a European bestseller since 1983 and was by that point well-proven in reliability and parts commonality — qualities that suited the Turkish market, where service network breadth and affordable running costs were key purchase drivers.

Turkish Uno production — of the five-door body style — ran into the early 2000s (sources vary; roughly 2000–2002), overlapping with the final years of the Bird Series and allowing Tofaş to cover a full range from value sedan to compact hatchback to small hatchback under one roof.
