Tofaş Doblò History
History
Production of the Fiat Doblò began at the Tofaş Bursa plant in September 2000 — marking the first time Fiat had moved volume production of a model to a country outside Italy. The decision was a statement of confidence in Tofaş's manufacturing capability: from day one, 90% of Doblò production was destined for export to 43 countries, making Bursa the Doblò's de facto world factory.
Output peaked at 138,313 units in 2007, and Tofaş built more than 2 million Doblòs over two decades at Bursa. The second-generation Doblò (Type 263) launched in early 2010 and was also built at Bursa; successive Stellantis-era vans (Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Opel Combo) shared platform and production lines there alongside it. In 2022 Stellantis moved the all-new (fifth-generation) Doblò to its Vigo plant in Spain, and Bursa Doblò production wound down in July 2023 — the end of an era for the model's Turkish home. Bursa was not out of the story for long, however: in 2026 Tofaş announced it would begin building the sixth-generation Doblò at Bursa in the third quarter of that year, returning the export workhorse to its longtime factory.
