Standard Ten History

Introduced in March 1954, the Standard Ten shared the Eight's unitary bodyshell and running gear but offered a more powerful, better-equipped car. Its Standard SC engine was enlarged to 948 cc for about 7 bhp more, and it gained an external boot lid, wind-down windows and a chrome radiator grille to distinguish it from the spartan Eight.

The Ten outlasted the Eight, continuing to 1961, and spawned an estate (the Companion) and a spirited tail-finned variant, the Pennant. Like the Eight, the Ten and Pennant were replaced by the Triumph Herald, which carried over an enlarged version of their engine.
