History

Launched in May 1991, the SEAT Toledo was significant as the first SEAT model developed as part of the Volkswagen Group rather than as a licensed Fiat. The first generation was a five-door liftback saloon on a VW platform, giving SEAT a more conventional family car above the Ibiza.

Four generations were produced over nearly three decades: the first (1991–1999) on VW's PQ24 architecture; the second (1998–2004) on PQ34 (Golf IV platform); the third (2004–2009) as a large conventional saloon on PQ34; and the fourth (2013–2019) repositioned as a budget-conscious compact saloon built on the PQ26 platform, effectively making it an Ibiza-based notchback. Production ended in February 2019.

PQ34 platform (Golf Mk4 sibling); sold alongside the first-gen León.

Repositioned as a budget compact notchback on the PQ26 platform; production ended February 2019.
