History

Presented at the 1993 Frankfurt Motor Show, the SEAT Córdoba was the saloon (and later estate and coupé) derivative of the second-generation Ibiza, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. It gave European buyers a conventional three-box compact car based on SEAT's successful supermini platform.

The 1996 facelift added the Córdoba SX coupé and the Córdoba Vario estate, broadening the lineup. A second generation followed in 2003 based on the third-gen Ibiza. Production of the Córdoba ended in November 2008 (European sales through 2009), as the compact saloon segment declined in favour of hatchbacks and small crossovers.
