History

The SEAT Ateca was unveiled on 1 March 2016 in Barcelona and went on sale from September 2016, marking the brand's long-awaited entry into the SUV segment. Built on the Volkswagen Group MQB A1 platform and assembled in the Czech Republic, it sits at the heart of SEAT's crossover lineup between the smaller Arona and the larger Tarraco.

The Ateca is offered with front- or all-wheel drive and a wide range of petrol and diesel engines shared across the VW Group, making it one of the most technically orthodox crossovers in its class. A Cupra Ateca performance variant followed in 2017 with up to 300 hp.
