History

The xD arrived for 2008 as the replacement for the discontinued xA, based on the second-generation Toyota Ist and again drawing on Yaris/Corolla mechanicals. Larger and better-equipped than the xA, it used a 1.8-liter four for noticeably more power.

It sold steadily but never matched the cultural impact of the xB, and was discontinued after 2014 as Scion's lineup contracted ahead of the brand's closure.
