Scion xB History
History
The xB was Scion's launch model and its defining shape: a small, upright, almost cube-like five-door hatchback that became the brand's signature. The first-generation car (2004–2006) was a US version of the Japanese-market Toyota bB, riding on a Yaris-family platform with a 1.5-liter four; its boxy practicality, customization potential, and low price made it a hit with younger buyers and tuners.
A larger, heavier second generation (2008–2015) grew in every dimension and adopted a 2.4-liter four shared with the Toyota Camry, trading some of the original's go-kart simplicity for more power and space. Many enthusiasts preferred the smaller, lighter first-generation car, which remains the more collectible of the two. The xB was discontinued in 2015 when Scion restructured its lineup around the iM and iA.
