History

Launched in 2009, the Scania Touring is an unusual product in the heavy-vehicle industry: the body is manufactured by Higer Bus Company in Suzhou, China, on a Scania chassis, and the finished coaches are exported to Europe under the Scania brand. The arrangement allowed Scania to offer a complete coach at a competitive price point while maintaining its engine and driveline quality.

The Touring has gone through successive facelifts and remains Scania's primary offering in the premium long-distance coach segment, competing with Neoplan, Van Hool, and Irizar products. It is popular with European tour operators who want Scania powertrain reliability in a complete vehicle.
