Scania's long-haul flagship since 2004 — a high-roof tractor available with up to 770 hp and five International Truck of the Year titles.

History
The Scania R-series debuted on 31 March 2004 as the high forward-control flagship of Scania's new PRT range, replacing the 4-series. Its spacious high-roof cab set new standards for long-haul driver comfort, and it won the International Truck of the Year award for 2005 — a first year win that Scania repeated in 2010 with a refreshed specification.
At its heart sat Scania's modular engine family, topped by a 16-litre V8 producing up to 580 hp at launch and later growing to 730 and then 770 hp. The V8 badge on the door became an aspirational symbol among European truck drivers, continuing the tradition of the 1969 original.
A thoroughly redesigned second-generation R-series arrived in 2016 (New Generation), sharing its wider, flatter cab architecture with the new flagship S-series. It again won International Truck of the Year for 2017, and has since been offered with a full range of alternative powertrains including LNG, HVO, and battery-electric drivetrains.
