Scania 2-Series History

Introduced in 1980, the Scania 2-series (also marketed as the GPRT range) succeeded the first Scania-badged generation and continued the brand's cab-over-engine tradition. Model designations followed the same formula: engine volume in litres times the series number, so a 14-litre engine in the second series became the '142'.

The 2-series was produced in Sweden until 1987, when the 3-series replaced it in Europe. Production continued in Argentina and Brazil until 1992, reflecting the brand's deep South American manufacturing roots dating back to its 1962 São Bernardo do Campo plant.
