Scania S-Series History
History
Unveiled on 23 August 2016 as the centrepiece of Scania's New Generation range, the S-series is the brand's first ever flat-floor cab: the absence of a tunnel over the engine gave the sleeper cab an interior space comparable to a small camper van, unprecedented for a production heavy truck. Its panoramic windscreen, full-width dashboard, and lounge-style bunk redefined what drivers expected from long-haul comfort.
The S-series won the International Truck of the Year award for 2017 alongside the New Generation R-series. Available only as a tractor unit, it is offered with engines up to the 770 hp 16-litre V8 and with alternative fuels including LNG. Since launch it has become Scania's image vehicle, used in marketing and endurance-driving challenges.
