History
The MG6 was the first entirely new model produced by SAIC under the revived MG marque, beginning production in 2010. A five-door fastback version (called the MG6 GT) went on sale in the United Kingdom in May 2011, followed by a saloon variant named the MG6 Magnette in July 2011, marking MG's return to British showrooms for the first time since the MG Rover collapse.
A second-generation MG6 was unveiled in November 2016 at the Nanjing Wanchi circuit, adopting MG's new 'Emotional Dynamism' design language. While UK sales of the first generation were modest, the MG6 established SAIC's ambition to rebuild MG as a credible international badge and laid the groundwork for the brand's subsequent SUV-led export push.
