SAIC Motor IM LS6 History

Introduced in August 2023 and officially launched in the Chinese market in October 2023, the IM LS6 is a 'coupe SUV' positioned below the larger LS7 flagship. It was designed to give IM Motors a higher-volume product at a more accessible price point than the L7 sedan or LS7 SUV, targeting the rapidly growing premium electric crossover class in China.

The LS6 offered strong performance figures and a premium interior consistent with IM Motors' brand positioning, helping the joint venture expand its sales base. The IM LS9 Hyper — the range-topping SUV — later became the symbolic 100-millionth vehicle delivered by SAIC group in May 2026.
