RUF RGT History

Introduced in 2000 based on the Porsche 996, the RGT was Ruf's answer to the Porsche GT3 and the spiritual successor to the Porsche RS and RSR lineage. Rather than adding turbochargers, Ruf extracted 395 hp from a naturally aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six — tuned for high-revving character and driver feel. Only 17 first-generation units were built.

When Porsche moved to the 997 platform Ruf updated the RGT accordingly, carrying the model through 2011. The RGT's emphasis on lightweight handling over outright power made it a favourite among driving purists who preferred the tactile rewards of a naturally aspirated car over the CTR's turbocharged sledgehammer approach.
