RUF CTR3 History

Unveiled on 20 April 2007 — exactly 20 years after the original CTR's debut — the CTR3 was a landmark for Ruf. For the first time the company designed and built its own chassis rather than starting from a Porsche body shell. The mid-engine layout used a 3.75-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 700 PS (691 hp), sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

The estimated top speed of 375 km/h (233 mph) and a 0–60 mph time of 3.2 seconds put it among the fastest cars of its era. The CTR3 demonstrated that Ruf could operate as a genuine low-volume supercar manufacturer, not simply a modifier of existing Porsche products. An Evo variant with revised aerodynamics and suspension followed during the production run.
