Riley Sprite History

The Riley Sprite was a two-seat open sports car produced from 1935 to 1938, following the company's Imp and MPH sports models. It used a 1½-litre (1,496 cc) four-cylinder engine on an MPH-derived chassis that was underslung at the rear.

A streamlined radiator cowl exclusive to the Sprite and the option of a Wilson pre-selector gearbox (in place of the manual) were among its highlights. Competition versions ran as the 1½-litre TT Sprite. The Riley Sprite name is unrelated to the later Austin-Healey Sprite, which has no Riley connection.
