History

The SM7 launched in 2004 as the brand's full-size executive offering, based on the Nissan Teana platform and positioned above the SM5 in the lineup. It offered V6 powertrains and targeted Korean buyers seeking premium domestic alternatives to imported luxury sedans.

A substantial update arrived in 2011, refreshing the SM7's exterior and interior for the second half of its production life. Despite modest total volume of approximately 100,000 units across its 15-year run, the SM7 served an important halo role for the brand. Production ended in late 2019 alongside the SM3, with sales concluding by January 2020.
