History

The Grand Koleos arrived in June 2024 as a significant departure from Renault Korea's Nissan-Alliance heritage: heavily based on the Geely Xingyue L (sold in some markets as the Monjaro), it rides Geely's Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. The partnership reflected a strategic shift by Renault Group to source products more broadly and give the Korean operation a competitive large SUV to compete with the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento.

The Grand Koleos is the first of at least two CMA-platform products for Renault Korea, signalling that the brand's future lineup will draw from Geely's alliance with Renault as much as from the traditional Renault-Nissan Alliance.
