History
The Satria launched in 1994 as a three-door hatchback on the Wira platform, giving Proton a sportier complement to the saloon-focused Wira. Its definitive moment was the Satria GTi (1998), tuned at Lotus's Hethel facility with a 1.8L Mitsubishi 4G93P engine producing 138 bhp — an accessible hot hatch that became a cult favourite in Malaysia.
The first-generation Satria ran until 2005, succeeded by the Satria Neo (2006–2015), which shared its platform with the Gen-2 and was developed with Lotus input. The Neo continued the GTi spirit with a CPS (Campro Fuel-Stratified Injection) engine variant offering more power. Production of the Satria Neo ended in 2015.
