Proton Exora History

Launched on 15 April 2009, the Exora was Malaysia's first locally developed seven-seat MPV — a family people-carrier built on the P2 platform that Proton designed entirely in-house with consultancy from LG CNS. It was intended to compete with the Nissan Grand Livina and Toyota Avanza in the value MPV space.

A 2011 facelift introduced the CamPro CFE (Charge Field Effect) turbocharged engine paired with a CVT — making the Exora Bold the first Proton to offer a turbo–CVT combination. After 196,583 units across 14 years, production ended in October 2023, by which point Proton's focus had shifted to the SUV segment.
