Praga Alfa History

Launched in 1913 as a smaller, cheaper complement to the Grand and Mignon, the Praga Alfa was conceived as a 'people's car' for buyers who could not stretch to the flagship models. In its debut year alone, 51 cars were produced — modest but a strong start for a budget model in the Austro-Hungarian market.

The Alfa evolved across nearly three decades, surviving World War I, the interwar boom, and the Great Depression, and remained in production until 1942. Approximately 9,250 cars were built under the Alfa name — by far Praga's highest-volume passenger car — making it the backbone of the company's pre-war automobile business.
