History
The Taycan (previewed as the Mission E concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show) was revealed at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and reached US dealers as a 2020 model. It was Porsche's first series-production all-electric vehicle — a performance sedan using an 800-volt architecture for ultra-fast 270 kW DC charging, dual motors, and power outputs from 402 hp (4S) to 750 hp (Turbo S). The Taycan immediately became a benchmark in the EV performance segment.
The lineup expanded rapidly: the Sport Turismo wagon and Cross Turismo variants, the rear-wheel-drive base model, the Turbo GT (with 1,019 hp in overboost) arrived by 2025, and a second generation with greater range and revised styling debuted for 2025. In 2020 the Taycan became Porsche's best-selling non-SUV in the US.
