History

The Panamera debuted at the April 2009 Shanghai Auto Show and went on sale as a 2010 model year vehicle in the US. It was Porsche's first true four-door production car — a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive (or all-wheel-drive) fastback grand tourer intended to combine genuine Porsche performance with executive practicality. Initial styling divided critics, but driving dynamics were widely praised.

A second generation (971) arrived for 2017 with cleaner, more Taycan-influenced styling and a broader range that included the Sport Turismo — an estate/wagon variant — as well as plug-in hybrid variants. The Panamera 4S E-Hybrid and Turbo S E-Hybrid give the car genuinely supercar-level performance (680+ hp) alongside meaningful electric range.
