History
The Macan was unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show and reached US dealerships in spring 2014 as a 2015 model. Built on a platform shared with the Audi Q5, the Macan targeted the compact premium SUV segment with a driving experience that punched above its class — turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines, sharp steering, and an agile chassis.
Since its first full year on sale the Macan has been Porsche's best-selling model globally, ahead even of the larger Cayenne. A second-generation Macan arrived for 2024 — fully electric, on a new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture developed with Audi — signaling Porsche's EV direction for its volume models.
