Ora Good Cat History
History
The Good Cat entered production in November 2020 as Ora's most important model, designed by Emanuel Derta (former Porsche designer) with a deliberately retro aesthetic. At launch it offered up to 401 km of range (NEDC) from LFP or NMC battery packs, paired with a 143 hp front-wheel-drive motor.
International expansion brought the car to Europe (marketed as the Ora Funky Cat), Australia and Nepal (as GWM Ora), and other markets, earning a five-star Euro NCAP rating in 2022 with standout scores — 92% in adult occupant protection and 93% in safety assist. A 2025 facelift standardized LFP batteries across the range and raised the motor output to 171 hp.
A performance-oriented Good Cat GT variant, offering a higher-output motor, joined the range in China. The model's retro-modern styling and international safety credentials made it the brand's primary volume driver and the vehicle most associated with the Ora name globally.
