Ora Black Cat History

Originally launched as the Ora R1 in 2019, this compact electric city car was renamed the Black Cat at the Chongqing Auto Show in July 2020. It was one of the most affordable electric vehicles on sale in China, with a small battery pack and urban focus.

In February 2022, Ora confirmed the Black Cat had been discontinued in China, citing a strategic decision to withdraw from loss-making low-cost models in favor of larger, higher-margin vehicles.
