Omoda Omoda C9 History
History
The Omoda C9 is the brand's flagship model — a large coupe-SUV measuring 4,775 mm in length and 1,920 mm wide, previewed in September 2024 and formally launched in Malaysia in December 2024. AWD deliveries began January 2025; FWD variants followed in May/June 2025.
Under the hood sits a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four producing 261 PS (192 kW) and 400 Nm, sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. A plug-in hybrid (SHS) variant has also been announced. The C9 targets the premium D-segment, competing above the C7 with a cabin described by reviewers as rivaling far more expensive European SUVs. A refreshed version for China was announced in May 2026.
