History

The Mini Coupe (R58) was a two-seat-only spin-off of the second-generation hatch, with a distinctive low, helmet-like roofline. Offered from 2012, it was the sportier, more focused half of a coupe/roadster pair.

It never found a large audience and was dropped after 2015, never replaced — one of several niche body styles BMW trimmed as it refocused Mini on the hatch, Clubman and Countryman.
