History
The open-top Mini joined the range partway through the first generation as the R52 Convertible, a two-door cabriolet derived from the hatch. It kept the hatch's chunky, characterful styling with a folding fabric roof that could open partway as a sunroof.
Successive cabriolets followed each hatch generation — the R57 (2009–2015) and the F57 (2015–2024) — and the convertible has remained one of Mini's signature lifestyle body styles, continuing into the latest generation.
