History

Unveiled on 8 September 2022 and launched for sale on 16 January 2023, the XUV400 is Mahindra's first volume electric passenger vehicle, built on a modified version of the XUV300's platform with a lengthened wheelbase to accommodate the battery pack. Battery options of 34.5 kWh (375 km claimed range) and 39.4 kWh (456 km claimed range) feed a single front-mounted motor producing 150 PS.

The XUV400's launch positioned Mahindra against the Tata Nexon EV in India's fast-growing electric compact-SUV segment. In January 2024 Mahindra added EC Pro and EL Pro trim levels with revised interiors, refreshing the range ahead of the more ambitious INGLO-platform EVs.
