History
The XUV300 launched on 14 February 2019 as Mahindra's compact urban SUV, derived from the SsangYong Tivoli's platform (Mahindra held a controlling stake in SsangYong at the time). It was powered by a 1.2-litre turbopetrol or a 1.5-litre turbodiesel and offered a level of standard safety equipment — seven airbags, electronic stability control — unprecedented for a vehicle in its segment.
When Global NCAP tested the XUV300 it earned a five-star adult occupant rating, making it the safest car made in India at that point. A facelift arrived in February 2024. The XUV300 platform also spawned the XUV400 electric variant launched in January 2023.
