History
The Dena — named after the Dena peak in Iran's Zagros Mountains — was unveiled at a Tehran motor show in April 2011 as IKCO's intended successor to the Samand in the domestic mid-size segment. Development and homologation stretched longer than expected; mass production began in 2013 and the first cars reached customers in autumn 2014.
Built on a developed form of the Peugeot 405 platform and powered by IKCO's domestic EF7 engine, the Dena was intended to signal a step up in quality and refinement for the brand. A Dena+ variant with a substantially redesigned interior launched from 2016 and continues in production, while the base Dena sedan wound down around 2021.
