Iran Khodro Runna History

The Runna (internal code X12) is a compact four-door sedan developed by Iran Khodro on the Peugeot 206 platform, designed to slot below the larger Samand in IKCO's lineup and offer a more affordable entry into the market. After delays pushed the launch past the expected mid-2011 date, deliveries began in late 2012 and the model rapidly gained market traction — in September 2013 it accounted for roughly 35% of Iran Khodro's monthly sales, making it briefly the company's top-selling model.

The Runna was offered with a Peugeot TU5JP4 1.6-liter engine and, early on, an IKCO EF7 1.6-liter unit, though the latter was phased out by 2013. A facelifted Runna Plus arrived for the 2020–21 model year, extending the nameplate before it was gradually superseded by newer IKCO platforms.
