Innocenti Elba / Mille History

After Fiat acquired Innocenti in 1990 it repurposed the brand as a low-cost label for rebadged Brazilian-market Fiat products. The Innocenti Elba was a version of the Brazilian Fiat Elba station wagon, sold in Italy from 1991 to 1996. The Mille (from 1994) was a Brazilian Fiat Uno in hatchback form, and the Mille Clip (from 1995) used the Polish second-series Fiat Uno bodyshell.

These were unabashedly badge-engineered vehicles with little connection to Innocenti's earlier identity as a manufacturer. They served a price-sensitive segment until February 1996, when Fiat announced that Innocenti sales would cease by the end of June 1997 — closing a chapter that had begun with Ferdinando Innocenti's original BMC deal some thirty-six years earlier.
