Innocenti IM3 / 1300 History

The IM3 arrived in 1963 as Innocenti's answer to the need for a proper family saloon, based on the highly regarded BMC ADO16 platform that underpinned the Austin 1100 and Morris 1100. It was assembled at Lambrate with Italian trim and sold across several engine and specification variants over the following years.

As the range evolved it became known by designations including IM3S, Austin I4, and I5. Production ran until 1974, overlapping with Innocenti's transition to the Mini-based cars that would come to define the marque under British Leyland and then De Tomaso.
