Innocenti Mini (Innocenti) History

From 1965 Innocenti began assembling the BMC Mini under licence at its Lambrate plant, producing conventional saloon and estate variants with 848 cc, 998 cc, and 1275 cc A-series engines. The Italian-built Minis were mechanically standard but benefited from Innocenti's quality assembly and sold well in the domestic market.

When British Leyland took ownership of Innocenti and then commissioned Bertone to restyle the Mini into a three-door hatchback in 1974, the original saloon/estate line was gradually phased out, giving way to the dramatically different Mini 90 and 120.
