History
The GMC Typhoon was the SUV sibling of the Syclone: a high-performance version of the two-door Jimmy, produced for the 1992 and 1993 model years. It used the same turbocharged, intercooled 4.3-liter V6 — rated at 280 hp and 360 lb-ft — driving all four wheels, with Car and Driver recording a 0–60 mph time of 5.3 seconds.
A total of 4,697 Typhoons were built (2,497 for 1992 and 2,200 for 1993). Together with the Syclone it remains one of the most celebrated American performance trucks of the era and a fixture of GMC enthusiast lore.
