GMC Suburban History

GMC sold a badged version of GM's long-wheelbase Suburban for decades, the extended full-size truck-based wagon that anchored the top of its SUV range. Like all GMC trucks it was twinned with the Chevrolet equivalent and trimmed slightly upmarket.

When GM revised its naming for 2000, GMC retired the Suburban name and replaced the model with the Yukon XL, folding the long-wheelbase SUV under the Yukon family. GMC's badged Suburban (originally the "Suburban Carryall") dates back to the 1937 model year, making it one of the marque's longest-running nameplates.
