GMC Savana History
History
The Savana replaced the Vandura for the 1996 model year as GMC's full-size van, the badge-engineered twin of the Chevrolet Express. Offered in cargo, passenger, and cutaway forms, it became a workhorse for fleets, contractors, and shuttle operators.
Long-lived and steadily updated rather than fully redesigned, the Savana has remained in production for decades as one of the last traditional body-on-frame full-size vans on the US market.
