GMC Jimmy (full-size K5) History
History
The full-size GMC Jimmy launched for the 1970 model year as the GMC version of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer — a short-wheelbase, body-on-frame SUV with a removable top, aimed at the Ford Bronco and International Scout.
Across its first (1970–1972) and second (1973–1991) generations it shared running gear with GM's full-size pickups. The full-size Jimmy was renamed the Yukon for 1992, leaving the Jimmy name to the compact model.
