History

The Acadia went on sale in 2006 as a 2007 model — GMC's first car-based (unibody) crossover. The first generation shared GM's Lambda platform with the Saturn Outlook, Chevrolet Traverse, and Buick Enclave, and replaced several older vehicles in the GMC lineup including the Safari van and the Envoy.

A second generation arrived for 2017, repositioned smaller as a mid-size crossover on GM's C1XX platform to better fit the booming midsize-SUV market. The Acadia has carried the Denali trim near the top of its range and remains one of GMC's volume crossovers.
