History
The first-generation Trax was developed by a GM small-vehicle team centred in South Korea and shown as a concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, with sales beginning in late 2012 and 2013 depending on market. Production was shared between GM Korea's Bupyeong plant and GM's San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico. More than 1.4 million units were built at the Bupyeong facility alone, and the Trax became South Korea's single most exported vehicle.
A dramatically redesigned, larger second generation arrived for the 2024 model year, developed again under GM Korea leadership and produced at the Changwon plant. The new Trax was substantially repositioned — longer, lower, and significantly more affordable for the US market — winning considerable attention at launch for its value proposition.

First generation · Trax (2013–2022)
GM Korea-developed compact crossover produced in Bupyeong and Mexico; South Korea's most exported single vehicle, with over 1.4 million units from Bupyeong alone.
Second generation · Trax (2024–)
Redesigned, larger, and notably more affordable Trax for the US market; produced at GM Korea's Changwon plant from March 2023.
