History

The Daewoo Magnus was launched on 23 November 2000 as a development of the earlier Leganza, positioned as a mid-size premium offering for the Korean market. Like the Leganza it was based on, the Magnus used Daewoo's own architecture before GM transitioned the company fully onto its global front-drive platforms.

The Magnus was succeeded in 2005 by the Tosca, which shared similar front-wheel-drive underpinnings with GM's global portfolio. Both models served as the domestic mid-size volume car in Korea before Chevrolet Korea replaced the Tosca with a locally produced version of the global Chevrolet Malibu from late 2011.
